What a selection - from those dedicated to obscure Saxon saints, to those incorporating most of a Roman building, to a Greek Orthodox beauty with fantastic wall paintings.

Lovely walking found from my front door. Hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying exploring locally.

The huge great tower is cut into the side of the castle motte, and has been suggested as mimicing a 200 year old style, in the 13th century. The Fitz Allans clearly wanted to make their claim to their marcher kingdom look much older than it was...

The ancient streets of the town of Clun largely preserve the medieval form of its predecessor planted borough.

The Clun Valley is a true walking gem - had forgotten how lovely it is down there. #shropshire
